A "dathun" (dah-thoon) is a retreat of several days for intentional study

and practice, usually introspective in nature.

A dathun is a time of integration, a time to harvest and make the

practices and teachings your own.

Preparing for Your Dathun: Suggestions

Create a Space for Pause:

A place you can be for introspection

for about 20-30 minutes

with minimal interruptions. 

You may find it useful to 

do the practice at about the

same time every day.

Journal book or device

Any props you use for yoga practices

as inspired throughout the July Dathun.

Breath Study Day One: 
Begin with 108 Breaths: Sweet & Simple
(Suggestion: Adding music may be a lovely
way to meet yourself in the breath as you begin the Dathun.
This track, called "Adagio" by Davison
is about  14 minutes in length. This is a little over half the time 
of the 108 Breaths Meditation, and leaves some quiet 
for the last several breaths.)

Layering the Practice, If You Like:
Feeling Sensation Possibilities
Breath ripples up your vertebral column on inhale....and down the vertebral column on exhale. See you if can track this from spinal end point to end point within the breath cycles. (Oshins, 2020; Farhi, 1996)
Yoga Sutras Day One: 
The first two Yoga Sutras are often thought of as the essence of yoga itself.
For Day 1, we will take a look at 3 translations of 1.1-1.2:
Sutra 1.1:
(This one is often not given due significance; it may be interesting to take time to feel yourself prepare for yoga; what softens, what energizes....does "mind" prepare differently from the "body" in focusing to receive the teachings?) 
"Now yoga is explained." (Bharat, 2019)
"With an open heart and mind, we embrace the study of yoga." (Devi, 2010)
"Now come the teachings of yoga." (Satchidananda, 1978) 
Sutra 1.2:
(The Existential Reason for Yoga, perhaps) 
"Yoga is a uniting of consciousness in the heart." (Devi, 2010) 
"Keeping the mind calm and focused is the essence of yoga." (Bharat, 2019)
"Yoga is the ability to direct and focus mental activity." (Bouanchaud, 1997)
